QBA AT THE WESTIN KUALA LUMPUR IS THE NEWEST WINE + CIGAR BAR THAT COMBINES A LATIN GRILL WITH GREAT LIVE ENTERTAINMENT IN KL. Qba offers an innovative menu featuring great Argentinean Beef, unusual tapas by the bar and Salsa dancing. A Hot NEW band ‘Fuego Latino’ entertains nightly with their Latin rhythms and the latest chart busters. Kuala Lumpur: Qba is a multi-Latin experience that takes diners back to nostalgic Havana that features a combination of four areas- a Latin Grill, Wine Bar + Cigar Lounge, Courtyard and an Island-Bar. Catering for wine and cigars connoisseurs, lovers of exotic dining must try the innovative Latin cuisines at Qba. Fresh meats featuring imported Argentinean Beef grilled is a big feature at Qba. Once grilled to perfection by the Qba Chef, this signature dish is best complimented by spicy salsas and exotic chutneys. Other steaks on the grill range from Rib eye, T-Bone Sirloin and of course Prime Rib. Apart from the meats, discerning gourmet lovers who enjoy seafood will have a choice of grilled Snow Fish, Salmon,Tuna, Tiger Prawns and Sea Bass. “We normally suggest to guests the perfect side order to go with their grilled meats; they can choose from roasted green asparagus, topped with truffle hollandaise to fork mashed boniatos, braised white radish, Taro chips to braised rice with pumpkin, black bean and Manchego cheese,” explains the Qba Chef Peter Liew. “On the other hand we also cater for diners who are more interested in main courses directly from the stove; they can look forward to Havana Rum Flambé Bay-Bug Lobster and Maine Scallop, Macadamia Nut crusted Black Cod served with coral essence and parsley olive oil or Oven-Baked Rack of Lamb served with roasted bell pepper rajas, braised five spice puy lentils and cracked black pepper glace,” adds Liew. Liew who brings with him 10 years of culinary expertise from the most talk about Latin restaurants in Singapore stresses diners at Qba, must also make room for the variety of tapas that the restaurant serves. Tapas at Qba can be savored hot or cold. The hot section offers Spicy Crab Cakes served with Orange lime salsa, papaya chutney - a house favorite, Smoked Duck “Chimichanga”, Qba Seafood Paella and Pan Seared Sea Scallops and the cold tapas offers an interesting palate that features Marinated Tuna with Cajun Spice, Calamari “Brocheta” and Smoked Anchovies. The house favorite Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup with mussel fritter is a must for the adventures. “The items in the menu reflect a cuisine that brings together different styles of foods from Mexico, Ecuador, Cuba and Spain in a Tapas fashion inspired by authentic home made Latin recipes that I learned during my stints in the various restaurants. This style is also very apparent in my salsas,” adds Liew. “All the cuisines in Qba are prepared without artificial flavoring- we emphasize the use of utmost fresh ingredients imported mainly from South America.” Liew explained further. The Chef added that although each dish may reflect a fine dining type of cuisine- just by its name, the servings of the mains, Tapas and meats from the grills are actually quite large. Finally Qba’s Latin Courtyard- the alfresco dining area of the restaurant is just a great place to hang out and enjoy the outlet’s signature drinks of Mojitos or Caipirinhas- cocktail concoctions from the rare and exquisite selection of great Rums- reputed to be one of the biggest collections of Rums in KL. Other ‘bartender favorites’ in Qba are the outlets celebrated Mulata, Daiquiri, Bellomonte and Floridita that represent classic Cuban drinks served in an innovative way. Diners will also be spoilt with the bar’s extensive selection of boutique wines- Spanish or South American- and other wines from around the world, many of which are featured by the glass in the QBA Wine Bar. And for those who need to complete the whole experience of Qba with a cigar or two, the array of Habano cigars will impress any cigar lover. Qba holds the best selection of cigars grown from Pinar Del Rio. Amongst the notable cigars available are- Romeo & Julieta and Montecristo No.4. Also available are Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 and Cohiba Siglo No.VI. Performing live nightly at Qba is Fuego Latino, a new 6-piece band from Columbia that plays a repertoire of typical Latin numbers that ranges from the hottest Latin rhythms to the latest chart busters. Qba is also the perfect setting catering to private events, company cocktails or get-togethers. It is a great alternative for pre-dinner or after dinner drinks and cocktails. |
