Decor
Bright, informal and spacious, (almost 100 covers), Pi has the cheerful and colourful ambience, which will help work up an appetite. Oh yes, and they have acupressure chairs , to take care of your aches and pressures, too!
Food
Lunch and dinner buffets (`850 plus taxes) form the mainstay, although the a la carte menu has a comprehensive listing of Continental, Oriental, Mediterranean and Indian cuisine. On the lunch buffet are various live counters, like an induction range (offering pastas etc), griddle (satays, shaslik skewers etc), fryer (tempuras, Hyderabadi 'lukhmis' etc), tandoor\sigri (kebabs), steamer (dimsums) and a wood-fired pizza oven (sadly, had a techincal defect the day I dined there, so a visit later to try the thin-crust pizzas has been mentally noted!).

We start on a refreshing Spiced Green Apple mocktail,
and munch on delish Cottage Cheese Shashliks (in a Thai curry marinade)
and Cajun-spiced baby potato Shashliks on skewers. More starters, like
Tawa Fish, Balchao Prawn Fry (scrumptious), hara bhara kebab (so-so),
Baby corn Tempura (with peri-peri sauce) follow, and so does Minestrone
Soup, which is differently done, with a garnish of minced zucchini and
squash, giving it a tangy-crunchy aftertaste.
In main courses, I venture for the Kerala delicacy Meen Moilee with Baby
Uttapam and am rewarded with a perfect taste, the tender fish morsels,
simmered in a delicate coconut milk gravy, with the mustard-curry leaves
tempering, adding the right texture. I also get my spaghetti custom-made
with pesto sauce, and a good topping of veggies like broccoli, peppers,
mushroom and olives. The pesto dressing is well-done, and I finish my
spaghetti to the last bite. Since I barely tried any of the exhaustive
salads spreads, I decide to make up for it by more sweet endings. The
in-house signature dessert, the Blueberry Chocolate Marquise is tried
and declared good. The Fresh Fruit gateau is also refreshingly light and
creamy, with the topping of fresh fruits, like kiwi, dragon fruit, green
apple and crunchy guava adding to the bite. In Indian desserts, tried,
tested and declared good are Baked
Sandesh, Cream Rasgulla (yummy!), Strawberry Srikand and Malai Moon. |
