As we leave Tauranga behind, the sea remains calm and the winds are gentle, providing a sense of comfort and ease. However, as we progress further south, the weather begins to shift—winds pick up and the swells become more pronounced, signaling our approach to rougher waters. It is at this point that our captain's expertise truly shines, steering us with confidence through the choppy, wind-swept strait. While there is a sense of excitement in the air, there is also a shared feeling of anticipation, and perhaps a hint of apprehension, as we prepare ourselves for the adventure that lies ahead. The constantly changing sea and sky serve as a reminder of both the beauty and the unpredictability of ocean travel. As we approach Wellington, our journey takes us through the striking Cook Strait and into the vast Wellington Harbor, also known as Port Nicholson. The city unfolds before us with its compact, sheltered harbor nestled among steep hills and vibrant suburbs. As the Odyssey enters, the deep waters and protective geography of the harbor become immediately apparent.
